The Clemson football team got good news this week as it relates to one veteran player’s future with the program. Defensive lineman Demonte Capehart will be back on the field for the Tigers in 2025.

The tackle had the option to end his college career after his fifth season with the squad, but he’s chosen to postpone professional pursuits for one year longer. He’ll return for Year 6 at Clemson next fall.

Capehart signed with the school as a member of the 2020 class. A blanket waiver from the NCAA kept that freshman year from counting against his eligibility. It allowed him to suit up for the Tigers over the next four seasons.

In 2021, he played in five games. Normally, that would burn the possibility of a redshirt. After submitting paperwork to have his status reevaluated, the NCAA granted him an extra season. That decision was made given the fact that he’d played just 20 snaps and failed to record any stats.

Capehart graduated in the spring of the last calendar year. He’d already played one season after earning his degree in sports communication. Now, he’s running it back again. He simply refuses to join the workforce!

Demonte Capehart is fresh off his most productive season at Clemson. He was the anchor of a tenacious defensive line that helped the Tigers win the ACC.

He’s put his job pursuits on pause for now. With another strong season, he should be getting his resume ready for NFL Draft suitors.
