With the laps winding down in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, it looked as if Joe Gibbs Racing star Christopher Bell was in a good position to take home a victory.
Bell started on the front row for what many believed would be the final restart of the race. But before he could even get to turn one, he found himself in the wall courtesy of a hit from controversial young star Carson Hocevar, who tried to split Bell and leader Bubba Wallace, only to discover there was not enough room to do so.

Former driver Clint Bowyer, who was in the broadcast booth for Fox, immediately called out Hocevar, who he said “wrecked Bell.”
However, a number of fans and members of the media have praised the 23-year-old for his aggressive style and said he was just doing what he could to try and win the race.
Ultimately, Hocevar finished fourth and made no fans among his fellow drivers in the process. Those drivers include Denny Hamlin, who didn’t hold back on Hocever on the most-recent episode of his Actions Detrimental podcast.
Denny Hamlin Says Carson Hocevar Continues To Make Idiot Moves
Young, aggressive drivers are nothing new to NASCAR. And many of them turn out to be stars, such as Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, Ross Chastain, and many more.
But Hocevar’s incidents appear to be more frequent, and Hamlin has had enough of them.
“I thought the TV guys did really well calling a spade a spade right off the bat. They started backing it up a little, because they were like ‘oh, maybe there was a hole. (Kevin) Harvick stood firm; he’s like ‘there might have been a hole, but it wasn’t a whole by the time he got there.’ It’s tough to watch … as a competitor, it’s going to come back around.”
Hamlin then took things a step further when a fan insinuated that he was simply an old dog getting mad at a young pup.
“Puppies are great, but if they s— in your bed, you gonna just lay in it? Or teach the puppy where to properly take a dump?” he responded.
Safe to say, Hamlin is tiring of Hocevar’s style, and he may well be the one to have to go teach the young pup a lesson.
