So far in the early stages of this NBA season, Derrick Rose has been in the middle of a few last second game winning situations for the Pistons. The first two scenarios came against the Hornets and did not go well. The first instance he threw a pass to no one and turned the ball over and more recently he waited too late to make a pass to his teammate.
On Monday night against the Pelicans he decided to keep the ball in his own hands for the game winner and that turned out to be a great decision. He pulled out a handful of moves on Jrue Holiday before getting enough separation and hitting a mid-range jumper for the 105-103 win.

That looked the Rose of old with those quick spin moves and smooth mid-range bucket.
After the game, he caught up with the broadcast reporter and had a simple statement about the final possession saying ‘excuse my English, but I’m born to do this shit, dead serious, this is what I do.’

Detroit coach Dwane Casey may have had the quote of the night when speaking about Rose as he referred to him as an MVP, at least so mentally.
“He’s an MVP for a reason,” Casey said per ESPN. “We’re not getting the young Derrick Rose, but the young man didn’t do almost anything all summer long. A little bit in training camp, a little bit in exhibition. He’s coming around. Again, he was an MVP, he’s still an MVP mentally for a reason.”
The Pistons have now won four of their last five games after Rose’s 21 point, seven assist outing on Monday night.
