Police have arrested a 48-year-old woman in connection with the shocking death of 27-year-old sports reporter Adan Manzano at the Super Bowl. Manzano was working the game for KGKC Telemundo Kansas City when he passed away in his hotel room in Kenner, Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans.

The woman, Danette Colbert, was arrested Thursday evening after allegedly using the Adan Manzano’s credit card at several stores in the New Orleans area, according to a police report provided to DailyMail.com. Colbert had previously been arrested in January of 2022 and was charged with drugging a man and stealing $50,000 from him on the Las Vegas Strip.

Deputy Chief Mark McCormick of the Kenner Police Department said Colbert, a resident of Slidell, Louisiana, will be charged with bank fraud, computer fraud, illegal transmission of monetary funds, access device fraud and purse snatching. He also said that they are investigating further to determine if she has ties to Adan Manzano’s mysterious death.

“Obviously, there are allegations in [Colbert’s] past criminal history that make us consider that,” McCormick said, NoLa.com reports. “But we don’t have anything at this point.”

Authorities in Louisiana had previously reported that there were no signs of obvious trauma to Manzano’s body, leading to speculation that he may have been poisoned. A toxicology report will have to be completed to make that determination.

Hotel security video seen by Kenner police investigators revealed that Colbert was seen arriving with Manzano at some point between 4 and 5 a.m. Wednesday. She was then seen leaving his room alone a few moments later. Manzano was discovered dead at about 4 p.m. in his hotel room later that day.

Danette Colbert, according to authorities, has previously been convicted in Jefferson and Orleans Parish for targeting tourists, using their credit cards and possessing stolen goods. She was also arrested and pleaded guilty in May 2015 to two counts of theft after she was accused of stealing a Rolex watch, cash and credit cards from another man she met on Bourbon Street.

Colbert was sentenced was sentenced to three years in prison in the first case and five years of active probation and three years of inactive probation in the second case. She also pleaded guilty to access device fraud in December 2019 and received five years’ probation.
