The Detroit Lions are in a bit of a crisis mode of late after a remarkable string of injuries decimated their defense. Detroit has allowed 79 points over its last two games, including 48 in a loss to the Buffalo Bills a week ago.
But defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn isn’t worried. And he believes that anybody who is worried needs to sort out their perspective.

“We’re 12-2 and the sky’s falling,” Glenn told reporters Thursday, via the Detroit Free Press. “We’re going to the playoffs. We’re in the tournament. Why in the hell is the sky falling for us? What do we have to sit back and be sad? We let you guys do that.
Glenn makes a good point. The Lions still control their own future when it comes to the top seed in the NFC. They’re still in position to potentially make and win the Super Bowl, and they’re still one of the best teams in the NFL.
But the current Detroit Lions roster does not resemble the Detroit Lions roster that started the season.
Star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson broke his leg against the Dallas Cowboys in October. Starting linebacker Alex Anzalone broke his arm in November and is out at least until the playoffs. Breakout defensive tackle Alim McNeil tore his ACL on Sunday. Starting cornerback Carlton Davis broke his jaw in the same game, and now starting running back David Montgomery is out for the year with a knee injury.
So yes, Glenn is correct. The Lions do not need to be in complete meltdown mode. But there is valid cause for concern in Detroit. And with many more injuries, it won’t be long until Glenn and head coach Dan Campbell, both former NFL players, may have to suit up again for the team that they now coach.
