Detroit Lions superstar defensive end Aidan Hutchison suffered perhaps the most gruesome injury of the 2024 NFL season on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.
Hutchinson was carted off the field after suffering a broken tibia while sacking Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. While some sources suggest Hutchinson could return for a potential Super Bowl run, the more likely outcome is that he is out for the season.
With that in mind, the Lions are reportedly eyeing up New York Jets pass rusher Haason Reddick according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
The #Lions have checked in on the Haason Reddick situation, per source. Could just be diligence. But Dan Campbell promised that GM Brad Holmes is doing his homework and that appears to be the case here. https://t.co/Wueh5pfTDt

Detroit Lions Considering Haason Reddick As Aidan Hutchinson Replacement
“The #Lions have checked in on the Haason Reddick situation, per source. Could just be diligence. But Dan Campbell promised that GM Brad Holmes is doing his homework and that appears to be the case here,” Fowler tweeted.
Reddick, of course, has not played in 2024. New York acquired the two-time Pro Bowler (2022, 23) in an offseason trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.
But the Jets, like the Eagles, were unable to come to terms on a contract extension. Reddick opted to hold out and things got so sour that Reddick’s agency eventually dropped him altogether.
He then signed with superstar agent Drew Rosenhaus, who expressed his interest in getting a deal done with the Jets. But Rosenhaus isn’t one to limit his options.
Reddick, a former first-round draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals, recorded 27 sacks over two seasons with the Eagles and led the league in forced fumbles in 2022 with five. But he’s now on the other side of 30 and teams are hesitant to pay him big money.
Detroit, however, is in a bind. It has a Super Bowl-ready roster now and is down a major part of it. Could Reddick be a ready-made replacement? It sure seems like he would be a perfect fit for one of the NFL’s top teams.
