The New York Giants took down the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, 21-15, to secure their first win. Running back Devin Singletary was a big reason why!
Not only did he total 65 yards with a touchdown on the ground, by he played a major role in passing attack, too. Singletary hauled in all four of his targets for 43 more yards.
The 100-yard day was a notable one, as was his first quarter rushing score, but it was a play in which he didn’t reach the endzone that’s now making headlines.
New York controlled the ball with just over two minutes left to play as it looked to run the final moments from the game clock. A few first downs would’ve effectively ended the game.
Devin Singletary got that and more on his first carry of the drive.
The back burst through the Cleveland defense and looked on his way to doubling his touchdown total. Then, he made a heads-up play to ensure victory.
Singletary gave himself up at the one-yard line, which allowed the Giants to kneel the remaining time off the clock over the next three snaps.
Devin Singletary understood the assignment. That should ice the game for the @Giants!

While the play was beneficial to his team, it was a disaster for sports bettors!
The over/under in the game was set anywhere between 37.5 to 38.5 points. A touchdown would’ve pushed the game total to 42 points to hit the over.
Instead, the score finished at 36. So close!
It also had an effect on fantasy football as the decision will likely cost more than a few owners a win in tightly contested battles.
#FantasyHeartbreak as Devin Singletary purposely goes down on the one on a long run instead of walking into the end zone. Sheesh. @Ihartitz

Tough break!
Devin Singletary probably isn’t thinking too much about those sports gamblers. Instead, he’ll savor the Giants’ first victory of the season.
