Further details regarding the six-time WNBA All-Star and her mysterious situation are unknown, which creates a lot of room for speculation. What is going on?! Is this the end?!
Social media seems to think DeWanna Bonner is going to return from this prolonged leave of absence and retire. As of right now, there is no reason to believe she is going to call it a career. This could be much ado about nothing. It could be something more serious, like a death in the family.
If it is a family matter, the team could ask for fans to give her the space she needs during a difficult time. If it is a health thing, the team could stop all of the outside chatter by simply saying so. The lack of explanation for why she is not with the team does not help with optics. The situation is open-ended.
Head coach Stephanie White recently spoke to Bonner’s disappearance but she did not provide a better understanding of the situation. In fact, her comments only made it even more confusing.

Meanwhile, WNBA fans are watching DeWanna Bonner’s every move. One such “report” claims she removed the Indiana Fever from her biography on Instagram, which may or may not have been there in the first place. She does not often post to Instagram. Nothing is confirmed.
To go even one step further, a viral post claims Bonner’s banner was removed from the team facility.
Both of these rumors led people on the internet to believe DeWanna Bonner is out in Indiana. They believe she will either retire or demand a trade. Playing for the Fever isn’t her thing.
However, there is no reason to run with this narrative. I am not entirely sure the banner photo is recent. I am fairly confident Bonner’s banner is still hanging based on videos from the Connecticut Sun game!
