Raja Bell made his living as an excellent 3-and-D player with the Phoenix Suns, an integral part of some really good Phoenix Suns teams in the mid-2000s. His son, Dia is also an elite athlete, but is focusing on football over basketball.
The Class of 2026 quarterback emerged as one of the best passers in America last season in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. And, on Monday, he announced where he embark on his college career before hopefully a very long NFL career.
Bell announced that he will follow in the footsteps of Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning at Texas under head coach and noted quarterback guru Steve Sarkisian.Β

I can’t think of many better places for a quarterback to go than Texas to play for Steve Sarkisian. The development will be great, he will always have a lot of talent around him, and the NIL money will flow in freely.
Make no mistake, Dia Bell is plenty good enough to play there. The 6-foot-3 gunslinger is ranked as a five-star by ESPN, and is a top 40 recruit by all recruiting services. Take a look at some of the things he can do.
Just a taste of what new 2026 Texas commit Dia Bell can do on the field π€

Yeah, he can definitely play. And, he’s only going to get bigger and stronger during his last two years in high school. His dad was listed at 6-foot-5 , so he could definitely grow some more.
Speaking of his dad, Raja Bell may have been one of the original 3-and-D players in the NBA. Not only did he make multiple All-NBA Defense teams, but he routinely shot over 40% from three in his career. Had he been playing in this era, he would’ve been a highly-coveted player that could’ve received a nine-figure contract.
Luckily for the Bell family, Dia could out-earn dad’s career earnings of $36 million by quite a bit if his time at Texas goes well.
