Caitlin Clark was rated as the ninth-best guard in the WNBA by her peers ahead of the 2025 All-Star Game. That vote sparked an instant social media reaction from both media and viewers.

Dick Vitale was one of the critics of that ninth place standing. He believes rivals need to move past their jealousy.

Absolutely PURE JEALOUSY that ⁦WNBA⁩ players voted Caitlin Clark the 9th-best guard. Some day they will realize what she has done for ALL of the players in the WNBA. Charted planes, increase in salaries, sold out crowds, improved TV Ratings.

Vitale says that WNBA players should be thanking Clark for the attention she’s brought to the league, rather than disrespecting her with a petty All-Star snub.

Caitlin Clark is often a point of contention when it comes to the league and its players. She’s been treated much differently than other star rookies that have come before and after her.

Clark became the face of the league before even stepping foot on the court. She has as wide fan following, which has resulted in massive endorsements and heavy media attention.

Some believe WNBA players are jealous of that attention. They’ve put their blood, sweat, and tears into building the league only to be overshadowed by a young phenom.

There is positive to the media attention Caitlin Clark receives, though, which Dick Vitale notes. More eyes typically means more money. The league is more relevant than ever before. It should be reflected in players’ bank accounts, as well as in other newfound luxuries.

While Vitale and others cry disrespect, in this instance, there could be another reason for the low player ranking. Clark’s been sidelined a large part of the 2025 season. She’s only played in nine of the Indiana Fever’s 16 contests. Based on production and availability, there’s basis for the argument.

Despite her absence, there are those that believe Clark’s been disrespected once again.
