Diego Pavia actually played his best game of the college football season thus far during a loss to Texas on Saturday. However, the majority of his success came during the fourth quarter and Vanderbilt came three points short of victory.

The magical season on West End is not over but it’s not looking as special as it once did.

Meanwhile, Pavia is at the center of criticism for how he acted during the loss. The sixth-year college football quarterback threw a ball at a defender after a touchdown during the fourth quarter.

The Longhorns delivered a late hit in the end zone.

Texas took a 24-10 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Longhorns added to their lead during the third quarter. Vanderbilt trailed 34-10 with one quarter left to play. It seemed like the game was over.

However, the Commodores started to crawl back.

Pavia got things going with a 25-yard touchdown run. He found pay dirt with just over 10 minutes left.

Texas defensive back Xavier Filsaime still delivered a hit on the ball-carrier even though Pavia was already three yards into the end zone. It was a pretty big pop but the officials did not throw a flag.

Diego Pavia took exception to the late hit.

It is not a secret that Diego Pavia plays with a chip on his shoulder. His attitude is part of what makes him special. He plays with an unwavering confidence and a hint of arrogance. College football is more fun because of who he is and how he acts.

With that being said, there are just as many haters as their are supporters. Especially after the contentious sequence of events on Saturday.

Filsaime stepped up to pop Pavia in the end zone but Pavia did not flinch. He then proceeded to flip the ball at the Texas defensive back in a manner.

Vanderbilt trailed by 17 points at the time so all of Pavia’s haters were furious. Anthony Hill Jr. also criticized the gesture.

Diego Pavia led the Commodores back with three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to come just three points shy of victory. He finished 27-for-38 for 365 yards and three touchdowns with 43 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. It was the late hit that got him going. Haters are furious.
