Former Michigan Wolverines analyst Connor Stalions is back coaching football less than a year after a sign-stealing scandal appeared to derail his career.

Stalions has been named the defensive coordinator at Detroit Mumford High School according to The Detroit News.

“I got the most hated man in college football right now, Connor Stalions,” head coach William McMichael told the paper. “He’s my defensive coordinator.”

Connor Stalions’ New Head Coach Had Previous Ties To Both He And Michigan

Notably, McMichael’s son Jeremiah Beasley committed to and signed for Michigan. But he then transferred to Missouri when Michigan defensive coordinator Jesse Minter followed Jim Harbaugh to the NFL.

“Jeremiah committed to Michigan, and I met (Stalions) during the recruiting process,” McMichael said. “He’s outstanding. I think he knows Michigan’s defense just as well as anyone else who was there with (former defensive coordinator Jesse) Minter and all of those guys.

“He’s great with the kids, has an outstanding football mind and we’re learning a lot — not just the kids, but the coaching staff. He’s a great addition to what we’re doing. He can help prepare the kids for college. They are learning the lingo, how they practice college and how they break down film, so it gives the kids an advantage.”

Stalions rose through the college coaching ranks before joining Michigan as a “player personnel analyst” with a salary of $56,100 in October of 2022.

But he was fired just two years later after he allegedly orchestrated a cover sign-stealing operation, traveling to several opponents’ games in order to do so.

The Big Ten eventually suspended then-Michigan coach Harbaugh for three games over the matter. While the NCAA has yet to hand down a verdict following a lengthy investigation.

Most recently, current Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore expressed his eagerness for the investigation to play out.

“I’ll just say this: I look forward to [the texts] being released,” Moore said of deleted text message exchanges between he and Stalions.

Which is a weird thing to say considering he, y’know, deleted the messages in the first place.
