Divorce papers filed on October 6th by Damian Lillard’s estranged wife Kay’La claim his “family man” image is all just part of his “brand.”
In a six-page declaration, obtained by RadarOnline.com, and filed in Oregon’s Clackamas County Circuit Court, Kay’La Lillard paints the new Milwaukee Bucks guard in a very negative light.
She claims Lillard left his family in October of 2022, but wasn’t around much even before then.
“I have been the primary parent for our three children since their birth,” she stated in the filing.
“While I am a registered and licensed nurse, I am a stay-at-home mother for our children. I have made all the major decisions regarding our children: I interviewed and selected their pediatrician and their dentist; I have made all medical decisions for the children.”
She contnued, “I want the children to have a healthy relationship with their father. I understand he is busy and has many commitments he must attend to. I also understand that the brand ‘Damian Lillard’ needs to continue with an image of a family-man. Despite our separation for several months, I have continued to support that image to the public.”
Interestingly, while Damian Lillard’s Instagram account is filled with photos of himself and his children, Kay’La Lillard tells a very different story.
“After [he] moved out in October 2022 until July 2023, [he] chose when and how much he saw the children while the children lived with me full-time in my home,” she claims. “When [he] was in town and not traveling for basketball, publicity, endorsements, or his music endeavors, he would pop over to visit for anywhere between thirty minutes to an hour to play with the kids while I was there or while a nanny was present a few times a week.”
Kay’La added that “there is no current parenting plan.”
“[He] has never been the sole parent responsible for the care of all three of our children, for any hours-long period of time without the help of nannies, assistants, and/or family members,” the filing reads.
Damian and Kay’La met while they were students at Weber State University and were together for more than 10 years before getting married in 2021. He proposed to her during the 2020 NBA All-Star weekend in Chicago.
RadarOnline.com also obtained a copy of the couple’s prenup which was signed five days before their wedding. Damian is demanding it be fully enforced and that includes the requirement that she no longer use his last name.
