Donald Trump Lamented Jared Kushner Ruining His Daughter Ivanka’s Chance To Date Tom Brady While Kushner Was Sitting Right There – Report

In an except from his new memoir Young Man in a Hurry: A Memoir of Discovery, California Governor Gavin Newsom detailed his first meeting with President Donald Trump, which featured a conversation about his daughter missing the chance to date future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady due to her relationship with Jared Kushner. Kushner, however, was sitting right next to the President.

According to Gavin Newsom, when the pair first met when Newsom was the Governor-Elect of California in 2018, he joined then first-term President Donald Trump for a ride on Marine One (the helicopter equivalent of Air Force One) to discuss the recent wildfires in California.

In his telling of the story, Newsom says that Trump was bemoaning the fact that his daughter Ivanka Trump had missed out on the chance to be set up with then-New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady due to her relationship with some “schmuck whose father had just got out of prison.” That schmuck, however, was none other than her current husband Jared Kushner, who was sitting right there.

“One of the book’s most arresting scenes comes in 2018 when, as governor-elect, Newsom first meets Donald Trump in person after wildfires in California. On Marine One, Trump tells a story about how he tried to set up his daughter Ivanka with the NFL quarterback Tom Brady, only to discover that she was already dating some schmuck whose father had just got out of prison. This schmuck is Jared Kushner, who is sitting right there as his father-in-law laments what his daughter could have had. ‘In front of the governor and future governor of California, Trump was making his son-in-law feel two feet tall,’ Newsom writes. ‘And Kushner just let him do it.’ Trump, in Newsom’s telling, is yet another controlling patriarch whose approval is impossible to win.” [via The Atlantic]
