Green Bay Phoenix basketball player Isaiah Miranda is reportedly no longer with the team. It’s not known if the decision was his or head coach Doug Gottlieb’s.
The departure is a hit to a lineup that’s already struggling. The 7-1 center was one of Green Bay’s top additions in the offseason.
Miranda started his college career at NC State, where he redshirted. He then transferred to Oklahoma State prior to last season. After playing in just three games with the Cowboys, he again opted to hit the portal.
The big man signed with Doug Gottlieb this past offseason. Viewed as a potential pro prospect, it was a huge get for the Phoenix.
In seven appearances this year, he’s averaged four points a night on 47.8% shooting. Gottlieb raved of his athleticism earlier in the season.
“There’s not athletes like that in the Horizon League,” he said in November. “If we can get him to the finish line, it will be really rewarding.”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like he’ll make through the year, which is a theme thus far in his college career. He’s yet to finish a full season with the same team. He hasn’t played for the same school in back-to-back seasons dating back to high school.
Some UW-Green Bay men’s basketball news: 7’1” center Isaiah Miranda is no longer with the program. This comes shortly after Miranda got a technical foul & blew up on the bench during a loss against Michigan Tech on 12/18.
Not sure if this was Miranda or Doug Gottlieb’s decision.

The departure comes a little over a week after he landed a technical foul in a loss to Michigan Tech. It’s not clear if that tirade had anything to do with his exit.
Miranda was not on the floor for Green Bay’s loss to Purdue-Fort Wayne on Sunday. The Phoenix have now fallen to 2-13 on the season.
