Drew Brees is one of the best signal callers in NFL history. His numbers reflect that as the former Chargers and Saints signal caller ranks second all-time in career passing yards.

But what often falls to the back of viewers’ minds is his incredible knack of evading defenders and extending plays. One NFL analyst seems to have forgotten about that escape-ability. Brees had to remind him!

Michael Robinson of NFL Network was recently heard commenting on the new era of pro passers, highlighting the incoming draft class during a recent segment. He zeroed in on Oregon quarterback Bo Nix, who was recently selected by the Denver Broncos.

After wrapping up an accomplished college career, his focus now turns to the NFL, where he’ll suit up for Brees’s former head coach, Sean Payton.

Robinson sees a lot of similarities in the two signal callers, going as far as to make the comparison when speaking on Nix’s future at the position.

And there’s one particular aspect in which the analyst believes Nix exceeds Brees – his rushing prowess.

Nix has often been seen making plays with his feet, an attribute that Robinson says will be advantageous at the next level. But while highlighting that ground game production, he threw a slight jab Brees’s way!

“He’s an athletic Drew Brees.”

“You’re not going to see Drew Brees doing a lot of QB draws and things like that,” Robinson continued.

It didn’t take long for the Hall of Fame dual-threat(?) passer to respond! Brees posted a highlight reel of his rushing success on Instagram, hilariously clapping back at the analyst.

“I had to have some fun with this one!” the caption read. “I appreciate the comparison @real_mike_rob . Bo Nix will be a stud in the NFL. I still haven’t seen many QBs doing this though…gotta be an athlete! Tape don’t lie!”

Brees rushed for just 752 yards across two decades as a pro, but his ability to evade trouble and turn a negative into a positive was often on display. He was also notorious for that goal line sneak seen time and time again throughout the clip.

While the montage doesn’t show a ton of designed QB draws, it does highlight his athleticism.

Put some respect on his name!

Brees had fun with the comparison, complimenting Bo Nix in the process, but he also let Robinson know not to question his game!
