We’re beginning to learn more about the tragic death of 31-year-old NHL star Johnny Gaudreau.
On Friday morning, it was reported that Johnny Gaudreau and his younger brother Matthew Gaudreau were struck and killed while riding their bikes the night before their sister’s wedding.
TMZ got ahold of the police report, and it says that the driver admitted to drinking several beers before the accident.

The man accused of killing NHL superstar Johnny Gaudreau and his little brother with his car on Thursday night admitted to authorities he drank “5-6 beers” before getting behind the wheel … this according to court documents, obtained by TMZ Sports.
In the docs, cops say 43-year-old Sean Higgins admitted to officers he slammed his Jeep Grand Cherokee into the backs of the Gaudreau brothers — who were on bicycles — on a rural road in Salem County, New Jersey at around 8 PM.
Officers say that the man also failed sobriety tests and admitted that drinking led to the crash.
Officers state in the docs that during questioning, Higgins showed signs of being drunk. They say in addition to admitting he had been drinking “prior to and while operating his vehicle,” he also reeked of alcohol. They added he failed field sobriety tests at the scene.
Law enforcement also wrote in the documents that Higgins told officers “his consumption of alcoholic beverages contributed to his impatience and reckless driving.”
Fans on social media were distraught by the news that Gaudreau was killed by an alleged drunk driver.
There are more options to avoid drinking and driving than ever before, and it still doesn’t seem to matter to people

STOP asking why they wanted to ride bikes, or why they wanted to ride bikes on that road. START asking why we put up with drunk drivers, aggressive drivers, and drivers who refuse to share the road.
