Dylan Raiola made a promise to the Nebraska fanbase near the end of his freshman year. He would lead the Cornhuskers to a bowl game in 2024.

At the time, the ‘Huskers were 5-5 and riding a four-game losing skid. Big Ten rivals Wisconsin and Iowa remained on the slate.

Raiola delivered on that promise by beating the Badgers soundly in late November, 44-25. He threw for nearly 300 yards in the win. Nebraska will now gear up for an appearance in the Pinstripe Bowl against Boston College.

Next season, he plans to achieve even more. The former five-star passer emphatically voiced his team’s national championship ambitions while closing out his final postgame press conference.

“Playoffs next year… It’s as simple as that.”

Those intentions became a bit hazier this week when he was linked to a possible transfer. Rumors swirled about his potential departure from Lincoln, with a major brand tabbed as a possible landing spot. Those whispers suggested that Dylan Raiola could replace Heisman trophy finalist Cam Ward at Miami in 2025.

Much of that noise revolved around his proclaimed championship ambitions. Moving down to South Florida to play for a 10-win team would certainly offer an easier path to the playoff, especially when looking at the two schools’ standing in their respective conferences.

Miami narrowly missed out on an ACC Championship bid after dropping its season finale. The Hurricanes are poised to continue competing for conference titles moving forward. Nebraska, meanwhile, just went 3-6 in Big Ten play. There’s still a ways to go!

Further fanning the rumor flames was the idea that Raiola’s camp was insistent he play for a national contender. Nebraska certainly has the brand name, but success has been missing for the better part of a decade. The Cornhuskers haven’t been a true title threat since the late 90s.

“Raiola is someone several teams are keeping an eye on as a portal candidate, per multiple sources across various fronts. There’s been some worry around Nebraska he may depart… His camp wants him to compete for a national contender rather than it being a decision motivated by money.”

Dylan Raiola eased the Nebraska fanbase’s mind with a social media post on Monday night. Soon after the transfer portal speculation was sparked, the quarterback sent a message to his online following: “All in! GBR.”
