The Nebraska Cornhuskers host the Colorado Buffaloes in a highly anticipated rivalry matchup this Saturday. That showdown will boast a pair of talented signal callers in Dylan Raiola and Shedeur Sanders.

Nebraska players have had high praise for their rookie passer to this point following an impressive college football debut. They spoke on what they expect to see this weekend.

Raiola signed with the Cornhuskers as the top quarterback prospect in the country. He immediately landed the keys to the offense, and he showed why in Week 1.

The freshman tossed a pair of touchdown passes while completing over 70% of his attempts as Nebraska cruised to a 40-7 season opening win.

Now, the road gets a little tougher.

Colorado enters fresh off a win over North Dakota State where it racked up 31 points and 504 yards of offense. Much of that came through the air with Shedeur Sanders totaling 445 passing yards.

Nebraska defenders were asked about preparations for the potential first round pick, and whether or not competing against Dylan Raiola in practice would help.

“You can’t compare Dylan and Shedeur Sanders,” said LB Mikai Gbayor. “Dylan is a different man the way he plays and the way he goes out there and attacks… Dylan is a dog, and you’ll see that on Saturday.”

Some would hear this as a simple comparison between playing styles. After all, Raiola is drawing more comps to Patrick Mahomes than anyone at the college ranks.

Others, though, might see it as shade!

Will Sanders take it personally? We’ll see!

Colorado, Nebraska head coaches preview matchup between Dylan Raiola and Shedeur Sanders.

Both Deion Sanders and Matt Rhule have been complimentary of their opponents after a testy rivalry matchup in 2023.

That game saw Cornhuskers and Buffaloes separated before the opening kickoff while providing college football viewers with Sanders’ patented watch celebration.

Matt Rhule knows all about Sanders, who shredded the Nebraska defense for 393 yards in last season’s 36-14 win. He’s had nothing but praise for the passer to this point.

Deion Sanders, meanwhile, is getting his first look at Dylan Raiola. Here’s what he had to say about facing the youngster.

“The kid made some darn good throws [last week],” Coach Prime said. “Some pretty good plays… I love what he showed in his first college game ever.”

There’s a little less drama in the leadup to Year 2 for Rhule and Sanders. Judging by these responses, we should see some fireworks under center when the QBs take the field.
