Dylan Raiola has not yet said goodbye to Nebraska. The former five-star quarterback entered the transfer portal and committed to Oregon without so much as a thank you to his former college football program.
What gives?
Perhaps Raiola is still planning to release some kind of statement about his time in Lincoln, to show his gratitude for all of the college football fans that bought his jersey and paid his salary. However, it has been almost a month since he announced his decision to leave. Silence often speaks louder than words.
Dylan Raiola transferred to Oregon.
It has been quite the journey for Raiola over these last four years. The second-ranked quarterback prospect in the recruiting Class of 2024 initially committed to Ohio State in 2022.
He continued to explore his options while in high school, which led him to flip his commitment to Georgia. He later flipped his commitment for a second time to Nebraska. The Cornhuskers received his signature during the early signing period in Dec. 2023. Raiola enrolled early in Jan. 2024.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound signal-caller completed 275 passes for 2,819 yards and 13 touchdowns as a true freshman but he threw 11 interceptions and Nebraska finished at 7-6.
There was a lot of hype surrounding Raiola’s sophomore year. Unfortunately, it was cut short due to injury during the ninth game of the season when suffered a broken fibula against USC on the first of November. Raiola completed 72.4% of his passes for 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns with only six interceptions up until that point. He was much better in 2025 than in 2024.
And then he hit the transfer portal.
Dylan Raiola announced his commitment to Oregon earlier this week and it sounds like his little brother could be joining him. We’ll see.
No love for Nebraska?
Raiola announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 15. It is now the middle of January and he has yet to say thank you or goodbye to his former program.
His Instagram last made reference to Nebraska in November.
Most high-profile athletes who choose to enter the transfer portal choose to thank their former school for the memories. Especially quarterbacks. It’s not always the most profound statement. Sometimes it is written by ChatGPT.
The post is more of a courtesy than anything.
Dylan Raiola has yet to post. Radio silence.
That could be for a few reasons.
Perhaps it stems from how things went down in Lincoln over the last few months. There might be some frustration there.
According to Steven Sipple, Nebraska chose not to enter into a bidding war. The Cornhuskers reportedly did not make a huge effort to change Raiola’s mind after he entered the portal. They weren’t going to fight for him. They moved on as soon as he moved on.
Raiola might feel slighted by the program’s lack of effort to bring him back. Or maybe it has to do with the fact that Nebraska fired his uncle, Donovan, as the offensive line coach. There are also some rumors that the Cornhuskers rescinded his brother’s offer. That has not been confirmed but it would be a valid reason to hold some resentment.
Regardless of why, Dylan Raiola has not yet addressed Nebraska since he left. Weird.
