Dylan Raiola is not going to continue his college football career at Nebraska. The former five-star quarterback entered the transfer portal with two seasons of eligibility remaining.
It sounds like he does not want to play into the Patrick Mahomes cosplay narrative.
The college football transfer portal does not officially open until next month. We already know where Raiola is not going to end up.
Dylan Raiola does not want to imitate Patrick Mahomes.
Raiola was rated as a five-star prospect in the recruiting Class of 2024. He was considered one of the three best quarterbacks alongside Julian Sayin and DJ Lagway. Air Noland and Like Kromenhoek rounded out the top five.
All five guys entered the transfer portal within two years of signing with their initial schools.
Sayin left Alabama for Ohio State. Noland left Ohio State for South Carolina. Kromenhoek left Florida State for Mississsippi State. Raiola and Lagway announced their intentions to leave Florida and Nebraska on Monday.
Although the former Cornhuskers signal-caller’s full list of suitors is not yet complete, it is clear where he is not going to end up. According to Pete Nakos, Texas Tech is not in the mix.
“Do not expect Texas Tech to be a factor in Dylan Raiola’s portal recruitment, sources tell On3.”
I do not know whether the Red Raiders are not interested in Raiola or if Raiola is not interested in the Red Raiders. My guess is that it is a combination of both. Either way, the man who often gets made fun of for looking and acting exactly like Patrick Mahomes is not going to play for Patrick Mahomes’ alma mater.
This is probably for the best but it is extremely disappointing as a fan. It would’ve been hilarious.
Is Dante Moore going to stay at Oregon?
With Texas Tech out, Raiola must figure out where else to go. According to Chris Hummer, “sources have mentioned Oregon as an early school of interest for Dylan Raiola and his camp.”
That makes it sound like Raiola wants to play for the Ducks. It is unclear as to whether Dan Lanning has any interest in Raiola.
However, Dante Moore has two years of eligibility remaining and might decide to run it back in 2026. There is a growing belief that he will end up going pro after this season but he probably will not give a formal answer either way until after the Playoff.
Is Dylan Raiola willing to wait around? What if the other programs that need quarterbacks choose to go with someone else while he is waiting on Oregon to open up?
I love this kind of thing… “an early school of interest for Dylan Raiola and his camp” makes it sound like he is manifesting his dream school. Maybe he will end up in Eugene! You can’t hear no if you don’t ask.
