Five-star freshman Dylan Stewart looks like a new man after just one offseason in a college weight program. The South Carolina defender is putting the SEC on notice with the 2024 opening kickoff just a month away!

Stewart posted a photo of his incredible body transformation this week, showing off some major gains. He hopes the added muscle will help him earn some early playing time in Year 1 with the Gamecocks.

Listed as an EDGE rusher on South Carolina’s athletics website, he arrived in Columbia with much fanfare after choosing Shane Beamer’s program over the likes of Ohio State, Georgia, and Alabama.

Now, he looks to make his mark.

Rated as a consensus Top 25 recruit, he expects to make an early impact on the defense. That said, it can often be difficult for defensive linemen to make the immediate jump from high school to college.

They say the closer you get to the ball, the longer it takes to contribute. Those along the line of scrimmage are typically the biggest and strongest players on the team.

Stewart might not have that problem judging by his offseason transformation. He’s been putting in the work!

The end posted side-by-side images showing his gains from high school to now. He looks like he ate his former self!

This is his official warning to SEC linemen.

While the 250-pound defender is competing in a crowded defensive end group, he’ll undoubtedly swipe some snaps from veterans this fall.

Shane Beamer’s lauded his abilities all offseason.

“He’s big, he can run, he can jump, he’s physical,” the head coach said in April. “He’s not your typical freshman, without a doubt… You notice him.”

That’s good news for the Gamecocks, who were in desperate need of pass rushers last year. South Carolina ranked 101st in the nation in sacks with just 21 across 12 games.

Dylan Stewart hopes to provide a feared presence along the front four in Columbia. He’s off to a great start from the looks of it!
