Eagles cornerback Darius Slay is speaking out ahead of the NFL season-opening game in Brazil.
Later this week, the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles will travel to Brazil to play in the first ever NFL Brazil game.
Before leaving the States, Slay made a video in which he talks about being worried about the crime rate in Brazil and claims the NFL told players not to leave the hotel.
“I do not want to go to Brazil. You want to know why? I’m going to tell you why,” Slay said. “They already told us not to leave the hotel. They told us we can’t do too much going on, because the crime rate is crazy. I’m like ‘NFL, why would you want to send us somewhere with a crime rate this high?”

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the NFL’s security team did advise players to not leave the hotel and also gave players a list of do’s and don’t on about their tie in Brazil.
NFL’s security team advised the Eagles and Packers to stay at the hotel during the Brazil trip and provided a list of do’s and don’ts. Among them was to not walk outside with their phones in view and not to answer any “weird” texts.
