UM legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Edgerrin James is hoping the college football playoff committee “does right” and puts the Hurricanes in the playoffs.
On Tuesday, the Hurricanes found themselves ranked #12, behind Notre Dame in the latest CFP rankings despite the fact that the Canes beat the Fighting Irish earlier this year.

We bumped into James at Hard Rock Bet’s Art Basel event in South Beach, and asked him what he thought about the controversy surrounding the college football rankings and UM.
“We’re not out yet, they gotta go do their due diligence to make sure they study what really happened. Head-to-head, it favors us. Strength of schedule it favors us. The commun opponent, it favors us, so if they do right, which they should, Miami should be in.”
James believes this UM team has a shot to win a championship if given the opportunity to play in the playoffs.
“This is a good team, it has a lot of young players, the team has the ingredients, it has depth, it’s just a matter of showing it, and that’s one thing that we just have to have the opportunity to do.”
Miami will probably need some help to get into the playoffs, but you can’t really argue against James’ reasoning as to why they should get in.
