Stephen A. Smith’s old hot takes are beginning to haunt him.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Knicks traded a slew of first-round picks for former Villanova player Mikal Bridges.
The move would reunite several players from the 2016 Villanova NCAA championship team and got huge praise from Smith
“Chemistry matters, reliability matters, consistency matters, defense matters. The brother can shoot. The brother can play. I’m sorry, I like this move by the New York Knicks. He’s young, he’s energetic, he’s seasoned, he defends. And he fits right into the culture.”
“And that’s all I ask baby. You crawl before you walk. We crawled last year, and we’re gonna walk. We’re close to sprinting. I still think we need another piece. But we’re going in the right direction. I like this, I like this, I LIKE THIS! Go, New York, go, New York, go! Whew! We crawl before we rise!”

After the trade went down, fans tracked DOWN an old video of Smith saying the 2016 Villanova didn’t have any NBA caliber players on their squad.
“Villanova doesn’t have a real NBA prospect on this squad”
Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo are all players from that 2016 Nova squad that are now on the Knicks
