England Teammates Reportedly Had Beef With Star Jude Bellingham At UEFA EURO 2024

Jude Bellingham was the star of the show for England at the 2024 UEFA European Championship in Germany.

Bellingham rescued his team from an embarrassing early exit at the hands of Slovakia and was at the center of just about everything the Three Lions did in attack.

But his presence didn’t sit well with all of his teammates, some of whom felt the Real Madrid star got all of the praise without taking any of the criticism.

England Players Critical Of Jude Bellingham’s Label As Team’s Savior

Oliver Kay of The Athletic reports that Bellingham drew the ire of several people in the England camp with the way he handled himself during the tournament,

“One player seemed more aware than anyone. Bellingham’s man-of-the-match performance against Serbia was followed by indifferent displays against Denmark and Slovenia. He was said by those familiar with the team environment to be acutely aware of every word said or written about him in the media. Any criticism of his performances seemed nuanced, but he would later refer to a ‘pile-on,'” Kay wrote.

“His demeanour was the subject of murmurs. That ‘Hey Jude’ Adidas advert, which portrayed him as the national team’s saviour, was well received by the public, but some within the camp felt the tone was at odds with the collective ethos of Southgate’s England,” he continued.

Even former England superstar Wayne Rooney had a say.

Rooney stated that Bellingham “is in a position where he should be taking responsibility.”

He wrote in a newspaper column that “it may be time to grow up, make decisions and say, ‘I need to help out and speak during the difficult times.”

Rooney noted that Bellingham would have given interviews had England won the tournament.

Instead, England came up short again. Football is not coming home. And it appears that there’s plenty of turmoil within the squad itself.
