Brian Harman is a golfer that’s drawn criticism in the past for his pace of play. Moving at a speed more slowly than a number of his competitors, he’s landed the ire of both fans and fellow members in the field.
On Thursday, he caught flak for that pace once again due to an inadvertent video cutaway on the ESPN broadcast. The accidental troll job was immediately noticed by viewers.
After lining up his path for a putt during the first round of PGA Championship action, Harman backed off causing a break in play. In that moment of downtime, the television crew moved away from the course to provide viewers with scenes from around the Valhalla Golf Club.
The very first image aired was a bit… ironic.

A turtle was shown immediately after cameras cut away from Brian Harman, catching the attention of fans. The hilarious coincidence was quickly posted to social media where users had some fun.
“This was definitely not an accident.”
Somehow, this isn’t the first occasion of which he’s been mocked by a broadcast crew, accidental or not.
Notorious for taking his time in-between shots, Harman was trolled by NBC just last year. The television team actually posted a “waggle tracker” graphic on the air during his Open Championship win to count how many times the lefty lined up his shot before actually taking a cut.
While he’s often seen meticulously previewing every detail throughout his pre-shot routine, in many cases, he succeeds.
Brian Harman entered the PGA Championship ranked 10th in the Official World Golf Rankings, and he has a chance to better that mark at this weekend’s major.
Unfortunately, he didn’t get off to the best start, shooting +2 through his first 13 holes. He’ll look to finish out his opening round strong and move (slowly) up the leaderboard throughout the weekend.
