Ezekiel Elliott May Get A Chance At Playoff Football With Los Angeles Chargers

Ezekiel Elliott proved to be washed this season with the Dallas Cowboys. The veteran running back had little left in the tank, and did not help the Cowboys out at all.

But, unlike his Cowboys teammates, Ezekiel Elliott will have a chance to play playoff football this postseason. Elliott was picked up by the Los Angeles Chargers in a bit of a stunner on Monday night ahead of the team’s Wild Card Round playoff game against the Houston Texans on Saturday.

Elliott, once arguably the league’s best running back, has really seen his ability decline in recent years. After running for no less than 979 yards in his first six seasons in Dallas, including two rushing titles, Zeke has failed to crack 900 yards each of his last three seasons. After spending last season in New England, he returned back to Dallas with little fanfare this year, frankly.

The skeptics were correct. Elliott was part of an anemic Dallas run game, though he was by far the worst part of it. In fifteen games, he carried 74 times for just 226 yards and three touchdowns, good for 3.1 yards per carry. That is a horrific average.

Last week, the Cowboys granted his release request, as he hoped to sign with a playoff team and try to chase an elusive Super Bowl ring. The Chargers, who are having injury issues at running back with Gus Edwards out with an ankle injury, decided to bite.

Maybe they’re making this move in the hopes that Ezekiel Elliott can help them in short-yardage situations. Otherwise, I can’t imagine this moving paying off. But, hey, you never know.
