It’s fantasy football draft season and for many that means it is fantasy football punishment season as well. Las Vegas sees its fair share of those afflicted by FF punishment, including someone from my league years ago who flew into Las Vegas on his way to Death Valley where he had to spend the night in a haunted clown motel. Did I mention that he also has (had?) a debilitating fear of clowns and the haunted clown motel was next to a creepy cemetery?

Fantasy Football Punishment: Surviving Las Vegas With $20 And No Hotel Room

Flash forward to present day and one guy who is about to suffer through a potentially long night in Las Vegas as part of his league’s fantasy football punishment went to the Internet looking for help. A reddit user with the username ‘Chexmix17‘ posted to the Las Vegas subreddit asking for advice. He wrote “I have to show up to our Vegas draft a day early with no hotel room and only $20” and asked for any tips on how to make it through the night.

I came across this fantasy football punishment over on X and the best response I saw, and I firmly believe this would be the best way to get through the night, is to use the $20 to make an awesome ‘I lost my fantasy football league and need help’ sign and bank on Las Vegas resort patrons feeling generous and hooking you up.

On Reddit, people came through with much more practical advice. One person suggested finding a players club sign up promo that includes free play and then using that free play to get free drinks, that way they could at least enjoy themselves while hanging around the city tipsy.

Someone claimed the El Cortez gives patrons $10-20 to gamble if you show them a boarding pass. They also called out the Stagecoach bar as a place to get $2 hotdogs.

Another person suggested if they were flying in from out of state as part of this fantasy football punishment they should just stay at the airport because there are plenty of places to blend in overnight.

One suggestion was going to the Fontainebleau where players get $15 free on video poker. Another top suggestion was just take the $20 and bet it on black at the roulette table to double their money.

Again, taking that $20 and making a “This is my fantasy football punishment, please help” sign and hanging out near the strip or plastering that sign on your forehead would be my play. You’d definitely find some sympathetic gamblers who had extra cash burning holes in their pockets.
