Big-Name FCS Coach Gets Clowned After Laying Out Insanely Strict Transfer Portal Rules

You may not know his name, but Tremaine Jackson is quietly one of the top up-and-coming college football coaches in the nation. The 41-year-old played at both Texas Southern and Louisiana-Monroe before getting a degree from the University of Houston. Jackson is 40-12 in his five years as a head coach and led Valdosta State to the NCAA Division II championship game a year ago.

Now Jackson is FCS Prairie View where he’s trying trying to lift up a Panthers program that went just 17-18 in the last three seasons under previous head coach Bubba McDowell. As part of his efforts, Jackson is setting a high standard, particularly for players hoping to join his program via the transfer portal. 

Jackson took to X to post the following rules for transfer portal players hoping to come to Prairie View A&M.

1. When I follow you, there’s a 4 hour window to follow back or we done.

2. Send your number, transcripts and hilite in the first message!

3. Make sure you address my staff as “Coach” and not “Bro” or by First/Last Name!

4. Don’t ask me for NIL (which we do have) when PFF has you as taking less than 200 snaps on the year. You should’ve gotten your 💰 from them, now its time to play!!

5. Pray, talk to your family, gf, dog and any other people before we offer you, not after you take 80 visits! I’m going to want to know ASAP!!

Now look, some of Jackson’s rules have merit. Number one is a bit ridiculous given that kids could have class or any other number of things to worry about. Two seems obvious, spelling aside, and three is a matter of simple respect. Number four also seems obvious given the level of football, but five is a bit much.

Either way, fans couldn’t believe that a coach at a program without much cache would have the nerve to be so demanding.

Now, maybe this all works out. Jackson appears to be a serial winner as a head coach. But that’s a very demanding list given the program and situation that he’s stepping into.
