Week 1 of the college football season brought us many things to discuss. But perhaps none of them were as incredible as Robert Morris University defensive back Rob Carter‘s interception against Utah State.

Carter, a sophomore who transferred into the program, is going viral after he made what people are already calling the “catch of the year.”

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Virginia native leaped up, threw his right hand into the air and somehow picked off Utah State quarterback Bryson Barnes while doing a full 360 several feet in the air.

The insane play kept the Colonials ahead 14-10 in the second quarter, although the Aggies went on to claim a 36-14 victory. But even despite the result, fans couldn’t believe what they were watching when they saw Carter’s interception/

“This is a superhero blowing his secret identity to make an interception,” one fan tweeted.

“This may be the best catch of any kind in the history of football gtfoh,” wrote another.

Pro Football Focus draft analyst Trevor Sikkema saidI don’t know how to describe this interception by Rob Carter Jr. other than it looks fake. It looks like a movie stunt. Insane.”

On a day when Iowa (!!!) scored 40 points and referees in Morgantown completely forgot how to spot a football, it’s Carter and little-known RMU (which is outside of Pittsburgh, for all of you asking) who stole the show!
