Flau’jae Johnson was the target of friendly online fire Thursday after she revealed a struggle she’s recently been dealing with. The guard lost her voice!

That voice is not only important on the basketball court, where Johnson is gearing up for her third season in Baton Rouge, but also in her other professional pursuits.

Flau’jae Johnson is an aspiring rapper!

The junior is undoubtedly one of the Tigers‘ top stars, but she has dreams beyond basketball. Johnson’s opened up about her musical aspirations in the past.

“I feel real strong about it,” she said in an interview with Stephen A. Smith. “The money is a blessing, don’t get me wrong… but the thing for me is more so the accountability and building that business brand.”

Not only is she focused on forming that brand, but she’s also striving to be a role model for those around her.

“You’ve got to realize where I come from. I come from Savannah, Ga. That city is nothing to play with… I see kids, and I made it out… I want to show them that you can make it happen…

“You don’t have to sell drugs, you don’t gotta rob…I’m just trying to show the kids you can do it in a positive way. That impact is so necessary.

“I always use the quote, ‘Make sure you aspire to inspire before you expire.'”

Unfortunately, her ability to inspire through music has been temporarily placed on hold.

Flau’jae Johnson lost her voice!

That post quickly prompted a petty reply from LSU women’s hoops coach Bob Starkey.

“I’m actually going to enjoy the quiet,” he responded on X.

The playful jabs are passing the time as the Tigers gear up for the 2024-25 season.

After winning 31 games and making a run to the Elite Eight last year, LSU will have to replace some important pieces headlined by Angel Reese.

Flau’jae Johnson will do her part to pick up the slack as she looks to get her team back to the national title game. And despite this brief hiatus, don’t expect her to slow down in the rap game, either!
