While they have declined a backhanded invitation to the upcoming State of the Union, the United States’ Olympic gold medal winning women’s hockey team will be celebrating their title stateside, albeit in Las Vegas with Flavor Flav. The famed Public Enemy rapped extended the invitation to the team on Monday after President Trump’s seemingly belittling comments about the team went viral.

After the United State’s men’s hockey team won gold against Canada on Sunday, they celebrated with Kash Patel — the embattled FBI director who previously claimed there was no evidence of Jeffrey Epstein trafficking women — in the locker room, who then got them on the phone with Donald Trump.

As he was chopping it up with the men’s team over the phone, the President made a predictably backhanded remark about the women’s team, suggesting he was politically obligated to give them the same treatment as the men’s team. His comments immediately went massively viral, which prompted Flavor Flav to step in.

Public Enemy rapped Flavor Flav stepped in to invite the U.S. Women’s hockey team to celebrate their gold medal win in Las Vegas

“I am reaching out on behalf of Flavor Flav. First, massive congratulations on the gold!! We saw the story about the men’s invite to the White House, and the not quite invite for the women’s team,” someone on his team emailed the women’s hockey team.

“Flav recently posted on social media an idea and invite for the women’s hockey team to Las Vegas for a real celebration. He always stands behind everything he says and does. If there is an interest for the team to come to Las Vegas and celebrate with Flav – we will figure it out on our end and make it a lovely experience. I wanted you to know that the offer is real and have my contact information. Flav is pretty flexible on timing except March 14–16.”

Flavor Flav has a recent history of uplifting women’s sports, so this certainly isn’t out of character for the Public Enemy rapper. In 2023, he began to publicly support the WNBA and attend games. In 2024, ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, he stepped in as the “unofficial sponsor” of the US Women’s water polo team after it was reported they were working second jobs to afford training. Flavor Flav helped raised funds for the team and covered some of the players’ rent, in addition to attending the Olympic games with the team.

Then, earlier this month at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, he served as the official sponsor and dee facto for the U.S. Women’s bobsled team.
