Serving drinks at a golf course might seem like a simple job—drive around, make drinks, and keep the players happy. But if you ask the people who actually do it, it comes with its own set of annoyances.
Florida-based cart girl Cat (@cat.on.the.course) regularly shares what her job is really like on TikTok.
Her latest video, which has racked up over 73,300 views, zeroes in on one very specific thing golfers say that she can’t stand.
‘They Say It Every Single Time I See Them’
In the short clip, Cat appears on-camera with the on-screen text: “Unless they mean it, golfers shouldn’t tell a cart girl this…”
Then she explains. “My biggest pet peeve is when golfers say, ‘Oh, on the next round. On the next round,” she says.
Cat says golfers do this often enough that it’s become a genuine grievance for her.
“If I see them six times—three on each side—they’ll keep saying it,” she adds. “Never happens.”
Her advice to golfers is simple: “If you are a golfer and you’re not sure you’re gonna get something, just say, ‘No thanks.’ It’s not that hard.”
In the caption, she adds, “A cart girl’s biggest pet peeve.”
What Does A ‘Cart Girl’ Even Do?
For anyone who doesn’t golf, here’s the quick rundown: A “cart girl” (or, more neutrally, a beverage cart attendant) drives a stocked golf cart around the course, offering drinks, snacks, and sometimes small gear to players.
It’s part customer service, part sales, and part navigating the very particular social dynamic of golfers—many of whom are regulars with routines and expectations.
These interactions are constant throughout an 18-hole round, which means attendants often see the same players multiple times in a single day.
Commenters Are Split
Her confession sparked a lively debate in the comments. Some golfers shared their own frustrations with cart service, while others backed Cat completely.
“And our biggest pet peeve is a $18 mixed drink,” one person wrote.
Another added, “The ‘shot’ of Fireball I got for $16 was enough for me. When we say next time, we’re just trying to be nice because it’s your job.”
Others came to Cat’s defense. “If the woman on the golf cart approaches our twosome or foursome, I always have time to say hello and get at least a water or a drink and tip,” one man said. “I don’t know what’s wrong with people and why this happens to you. Sorry—it’s a nice break to see the cart, woman, friendly face, and bringing a drink right to you. I’m a man, but some men are idiots.”
And one commenter simply noted, “6 times a round is crazy. Most people say that knowing that was their one and only chance of getting a drink.”
