We’ve finally learned what the first domino to fall in the aftermath of the Dallas Cowboys’ first round playoff elimination will be. There were many out there who thought Mike McCarthy would be on his way out, but it is one of the Cowboys’ best offensive weapons who has ended up on the chopping block.
According to Adam Schefter, the Dallas Cowboys are likely to release Amari Cooper before the start of the new league year.
Cowboys are “likely” to release WR Amari Copper by the start of the new league year, per league sources.
Cooper is due $20 million in fully guaranteed money on the fifth day of the new league year, March 20.

The move will help the Cowboys get closer to the salary cap, but Cooper is a surprising cap casualty. Cooper is a player that would be expected to reach 1000 yards with just about any team that signs him and was a key contributor for the Cowboys last year.
The move is not one that has gotten much support around the football world.
