It has already been seven years since Fortnite was first released as an early access title in 2017 but New Mexico State quarterback Brandon Nunez kept its legacy alive in Las Cruces on Tuesday. He danced all over the defense after scoring a touchdown on his first-career carry.

The battle royale video game’s massive cultural influence continues to stand the test of time!

Nunez, a senior, transferred to play for the Aggies during the offseason after an impressive run at Fullerton College. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound dual-threat quarterback, who started the year listed as fourth on the depth chart, took over against Louisiana and willed his college football team to victory in double overtime.

New Mexico State turned to Nunez in the second half. His first-ever carry on the FBS level was a touchdown. He went untouched on 2nd-and-goal from the seven-yard-line.

Nunez crossed the goal line and immediately started to boogie!

There was not even a second of hesitation before he broke out into the default Fortnite dance, which took over the world between 2017 and 2019. It generated more than $9 billion in gross revenue during that stretch and is considered among the greatest video games of all-time. Everybody and their mother broke out into the various dances and emotes at every opportunity for about five years.

Brandon Nunez went deep into his bag for his Fortnite celebration on Tuesday. It was spot-on!

Nunex ultimately finished with four completions for 49 yards and six carries for 30 yards and two touchdowns. The Bulldogs’ defense didn’t have an answer. They could not stop him during overtime.

Louisiana Tech allowed a fourth-string quarterback to score a touchdown on his very first play. And if that was not demoralizing enough, the fourth-string quarterback hit the Fortnite dance right in their faces and willed his team to victory after two extra periods of play.
