The New York Mets remembered September 11th on Tuesday as they got set to face off against the Toronto Blue Jays. To honor first responders, many donned gear highlighting policemen, firemen, and emergency personnel.

Infielder Francisco Lindor had one of the cooler tributes. His custom glove brought attention to those that continue to serve in those fields.

Lindor’s mitt is littered with badges and logos of New York based emergency services. He was one of a number of teammates to show support on the anniversary of one the nation’s darkest days.

More than two decades ago, the Mets played a huge part in bringing the country back together, providing some sense of normalcy following horrific events.

Mike Piazza hit the first Major League home run post-September 11th just 10 days after the attacks on the Twin Towers, sparking a wave of emotion for both fans in the stands and viewers at home.

A few months later, it was another New York team that fittingly competed in the World Series, with President George Bush throwing out the first pitch in the Big Apple.

Though the Yankees would lose to the Diamondbacks in seven games, it was yet another rallying moment for a city looking for something to latch onto.

While the country has now recovered in many ways from those terrorist attacks, the memory of the tragic events hasn’t been lost. Francisco Lindor found an awesome way to honor our heroes, both past and present.
