Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa are back together! The tennis power couple has apparently rekindled their romance and will compete in mixed doubles at the French Open as each other’s partners.

It is a rather significant turn of events from where they were just three weeks ago.

Tsitsipas started dating Badosa in early 2023. Their relationship blossomed as one while each individual also focused on success as an individual.

The former is currently ranked No. in the world in singles.

The latter is currently ranked No. 139 in singles.

They officially entered the mixed doubles field at Roland Garros earlier this week! The French Open granted the recently-recoupled duo a wild card spot into the field and paired them with Ena Shibahara and Nathaniel Lammons in the First Round.

Dynamics surrounding their on-court partnership are rather unique.

Badosa announced her “amicable” split from Tsitsipas at the start of May. She posted the following statement to social media:

After careful consideration and many cherished moments together, Stefanos and I have decided to amicably part ways. We have shared a journey filled with love and learning, and it is as friends with immense mutual respect that we now choose to move forward on our own paths.

We are grateful for the support of our friends, family, and all who have been part of our story. As we transition into this new chapter of our lives, we continue to wish each other nothing but the best in all our endeavors. We kindly ask for privacy during this time, and we thank you for your understanding and respect.

Even though Badosa later said that Tsitsipas was the “right person at the wrong moment,” it did not take long for the Greek and Spanish athletes’ love to rekindle. They were spotted holding hands in Monaco on May 18.

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa are back together!

Tsitsipas confirmed that they are indeed a couple when speaking to the media ahead of his busy schedule in Paris earlier this week. He also revealed that he was the one who initiated the breakup in the first place and took full responsibility for all how things played out.

Paula didn’t do anything wrong, nor did I do anything wrong. It was hard for us being apart and I was going through some hard times too. I would say that I didn’t manage it very well either, because I was feeling the pressure of the tour, of my work. It seemed like a mountain to combine these two, and I made the decision to take a break.

After two, three weeks I realized that she is a person who has supported me a lot and when she tried to talk to me about meeting, I felt how intense the love we have for each other is. I realized that this relationship I have with Paula is completely different from any relationship I have had in the past.

I feel that she is my person and we understand each other; that puts more value in everything I do and I want her by my side as often as possible. So yes, we’ve reconnected and we’re in a good moment.

Badosa referred to her boyfriend’s comments on the breakup and subsequent reunion. She wants her relationship with Tsitsipas to be on their terms.

The relationship is working very well now. He already explained. I have nothing else to say.

I think one of the things that I didn’t like or we didn’t like is that it was very public, so now we want to keep things a little bit more on our own. I still understand that it’s not going to be easy because we are two public people, public person, and people will ask, but we want to keep it more for ourselves because it’s never easy to combine our careers to that.

Let’s just try to keep it simple for both of us, because I think it helps and it’s healthier.

The ‘Tsitsidosa’ couple was immediately thrust into the spotlight as soon as their relationship came to exist. They attended each other’s matches, posed together for a high-fashion photo shoot with Rada Leitmeritz and even (briefly) launched a joint Instagram account.

It sounds like things are going to be a little bit less public this time…

However, Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas are going to team up for mixed doubles, which is not particularly low-profile. Their French Open debut as a duo will begin on Thursday!
