West Virginia defensive back Garnett Hollis Jr. talked a lot of trash about Penn State prior to the highly-anticipated college football rivalry game in Morgantown on Friday. He got completely embarrassed.

The fifth-year senior was on the wrong end of an impressive throw and catch during the first half!

Hollis made headlines earlier this month when asked about the Nittany Lions. As a graduate transfer from Northwestern, he is very familiar with the Big Ten foe and how they operate.

In his opinion, Penn State doesn’t give due respect to teams that aren’t blue bloods.

I would just say, with them playing last year, they [Penn State] kind of did some of the similar stuff that they ran against Northwestern and how they ran against them [West Virginia] in Week 1. So, I think they’re the same team; they don’t show too much respect for their opponents unless it’s Michigan or Ohio State.

Hollis took it one step further when talking about the keys to victory for the Mountaineers. He claimed that West Virginia was going to come out swinging and beat the visitors into a pulp.

I think it’s just going out there and outplaying them. I think that’s the main key is, don’t give them the game. That’s what they want. That’s what they think every team is going to do is give them the game. But I think when we go out there and punch them in the mouth, and we take the life from them, I think that’s going to be the difference, for sure.

That is not what happened. At all…

The Nittany Lions went up 20-6 and never looked back. They won by more than three scores.

Redshirt junior wide receiver Trey Wallace finished with more than 100 yards receiving on just five catches with two touchdowns. His second score marked the beginning of the end for West Virginia.

Drew Allar made a ridiculous back shoulder throw to Wallace with a defender draped all over him. The defensive back in coverage just so happened to be… Garnet Hollis Jr. He got mossed!

There was a lot of buzz about the Mountaineers heading into a game that a lot of people thought they could win against the No. 8-ranked team in the country. Hollis only added fuel to that fire with his savage pregame chatter. It completely backfired.

Not only did Penn State wipe the floor with West Virginia on its home turf, Wallace made the loudest trash talker on the team look foolish. Garnett Hollis Jr. was humbled in the most unfortunate way possible, because Allar’s touchdown throw to Wallace will be on the highlight reel for the rest of the season!
