New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is unhappy with the amount of targets he’s been receiving and seems to be placing the blame on his quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Wilson is now in his third year with the Jets after being drafted out of Ohio State University with the 10th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

In Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams — in which the Jets became the first team to not punt in a game but be held under 10 points in 25 years — Wilson had six catches for 54 yards. So far this season, he’s got 90 catches for 987 yards and six touchdowns.

Speaking to the media after the game, Wilson expressed his frustration with the amount of targets he’s been receiving, and according to ESPN, as seemingly putting the blame at the feet of his quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“I’d like to be involved, love to make an impact on the game, but people see it differently. That’s out of my control,” Wilson told reporters after the game.

“Could these ‘people’ actually be one person … say, his quarterback? Wilson praised passing game coordinator Todd Downing for trying to figure out ways to get him the ball. By the process of elimination, that leaves Rodgers, whose most-targeted receiver over the past four games has been old friend Davante Adams. [via ESPN]”

“Garrett Wilson was wide open underneath but nope Rodgers says let’s pass it to my boyfriend Davante!” said on frustrated Jets fan on social media during the game.

Since the Jets traded for Adams on October 15, the 31-year-old future Hall of Fame pass catcher has had 56 catches for 719 yards and has scored 6 touchdown.

The Jets loss to the New England Patriots dropped their record on the season, which began with Super Bowl expectations, to 4-11.

Gang Green will be closing out their miserable 2024 season — which will see the team extend its playoff drought to 14 years, the longest in the four major American sports leagues — with divisional matchups against the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.
