New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson has become beloved by the fan base because he not only produces on the field regardless of who his quarterback is, but because he stands on business for the team and its fans, with the latest instance of that behavior leading to him going viral on social media.

In response to a segment on ESPN’s daily debate show First Take that saw Stephen A. Smith suggest that University of Oregon quarterback Dante Moore should return to college football to avoid being drafted by the New York Jets, Garrett Wilson said that anyone who goes on the network is a “sellout” and a “square.”

Despite playing in just six games this season due to a knee sprain and having not caught a pass since the month of October, Wilson finished the 2025 campaign as Gang Green’s leading receiver with 395 yards (alongside 36 catches and four touchdowns).

While the Jets won just three games and hardly resembled a functioning NFL outfit for the last month of the season, rookie head coach Aaron Glenn retained his job and will return for the 2026 season.

The New York Jets head into the 2026 NFL Draft with the #2 overall pick — behind only the Las Vegas Raiders — leading many experts to project they’ll select University of Oregon quarterback Dante Moore. One narrative that’s been brewing in the media, however, is that Moore should return to college in order to avoid being drafted by the Jets, who haven’t made the playoffs since 2010.

The Jets’ postseason drought is not just the longest in the NFL by some distance (the Falcons have the next-longest absence, having not made the playoffs since 2017) but it’s the longest playoff absence across the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL.
