The Georgia baseball team picked up a third straight win over Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday as it pursues a four-game series sweep. The most recent matchup needed extra innings to be decided.

The Bulldogs were able to overcome an early deficit to extend the game. The home squad would then walk their opponents off for a second time in three days.

The Eagles grabbed a 6-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks to a pair of homers from Javier Gorostola and Jon Embury. They led 8-2 midway through the contest.

Georgia used the long ball to spark a comeback attempt. Ryland Zaborowski left the yard in the third and sixth innings to pull his team to within two runs.

After each of those homers, the Georgia baseball social media team posted graphics to highlight the advanced stats of those bombs.

Florida Gulf Coast caught wind of the posts and decided to mock the Bulldogs while still holding that 8-6 lead. After a sixth-inning strikeout, the Eagles posted some statistics of their own.

The trash talk aged as poorly as possible. In the bottom of the next frame, Tre Phelps turned on a 1-1 pitch and sent a no-doubt two-run HR over the left field fence. The blast tied the game at 8-8. Georgia would later win in the 10th inning on a walk-off single.

Georgia made sure to, again, post those home run numbers in a social media graphic. This time, it added the caption, “Nuff said.” The Bulldogs clearly caught wind of the FGCU jab.

It was the second time the Bulldogs had beaten the Eagles in their final at-bat. It was also the second time the FGCU admin was forced to eat crow after failed trash talk.

Geogia will now look to close out the series sweep. The finale will be played on Sunday in Athens.
