Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: the Georgia Bulldogs football program had a player arrested on Sunday for a driving-related offense.

This time, that player was backup offensive lineman Nyier Daniels. The circumstances involving his arrest were, by far, the strangest yet in a long spate of vehicle-related arrests.

Details Emerge From Arrest Of Georgia Bulldogs OL Nyier Daniels

Anthony Dasher of On3 Sports reports that both Daniels and his mother, Brandi Canada Green, were arrested as part of the incident.

The report states that the redshirt freshman is facing a whopping 10 misdemeanor vehicular charges. He also faces three felony charges. The felony charges include two counts of cruelty to children in the second degree and one count of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.

But that’s not all.

Chief Jeff Drossman of the Commerce (Georgia) Police Department revealed that Green, who was driving a different car at the time, was also involved in the incident. She was charged with two counts of running a stop sign or light, fleeing, failure to maintain a lane, and reckless driving.

Drossman stated that both Daniels and Geen were clocked at over 100 mph. Daniels was driving in a 25-mph zone.

According to Drossman, who spoke with UGASports of On3, Green was initially stopped for running a stop sign. That’s when Daniels, driving a second vehicle, passed the officer conducting the stop at 100 mph in downtown Commerce.

That officer left the stop with Green and attempted to stop Daniels. Daniels then continued down the road, trying to evade police.  Green then attempted to intercept the chase. In doing so, she blocked a second officer from pursuing Daniels.

Ultimately, Daniels did evade police. However, he later turned himself in with Georgia football Player and Operations Director, Bryant Gannt. The endangerment to children felonies for Daniels are due to the fact that two children were allegedly riding in the car at the time.

“The mother was being stopped for a traffic light or a stop sign violation. When Mr. Daniels saw his mother being pulled over, he didn’t want her to get a ticket,” Drossman told On3 . “So, he decided to put everybody else’s life in jeopardy.”

Kirby Smart Could Do More To Stop Georgia’s Ridiculous Running Of Driving Arrests

At this point, it’s surprising when the Georgia football program goes a week without a vehicle-related arrest.

But head coach Kirby Smart still doesn’t seem overly concerned. That’s despite former player Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler dying in a car accident when LeCroy and defensive tackle Jalen Carter were allegedly street racing in 2023.
