A female Georgia fan is going extremely viral for her behavior at the Sugar Bowl. She accosted an Ole Miss fan for sitting in the Bulldogs’ student section even though he was cheering for the Rebels.

The video has since been viewed more than one million times.

Although college football fans are split on their view of the incident, the reaction is mostly negative. She is wrongly being mocked for her outburst even though she is absolutely correct.

College Football Playoff games DO have a student section.

Before we get into exactly what happened on New Year’s Day in New Orleans, lets first set the scene.

Ole Miss played Georgia in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals on Thursday night. Kirby Smart said it felt like a road game.

Rebels fans filled the Superdome.

No less than 65% of the stadium was decked out in powder blue.

That might be understated.

There were only a few Georgia fans on the Ole Miss side of the stadium. There were a lot of Ole Miss fans on the Georgia side of the stadium.

They got tickets wherever they could. It was a complete takeover.

Although this game was played at a “neutral site,” each fanbase receives a specific allotment of tickets that are only for their fans. The rest are sold to whoever buys them. That allotment includes a student section. Both Georgia and Ole Miss had specific, earmarked sections for only their students. This is an important part of the equation as we continue this story.

Ole Miss crossed enemy lines.

A video has surfaced on social media that shows a female Georgia fan (likely a student) with a beer in hand. She turns back to an Ole Miss fan behind her who was yelling and clapping for his team to accost him for “being f—— obnoxious.” She makes it abundantly clear that they are in the Bulldogs’ student section and asked to see his ticket. He just kept clapping.

The Georgia fan eventually removes herself from the situation but the guy sitting next to her backed up her claims as she walked off. The Ole Miss fan was “being annoying” in the opposing student section.

A large majority of people on social media were quick to mock the female Bulldog for being a Karen. They laughed at her alcohol-fueled outburst and quipped that she will be a great HR rep one day. Some people thought she was in the wrong for getting upset at a fan cheering for his team. Others questioned why she claimed to be in the “student section” at a Playoff game when student sections don’t exist.

The viral Georgia fan is right.

As an Ole Miss fan myself, I can confidently say that all of the haters are wrong. She was right!

We already established that student sections do exist at Playoff games and if a Rebels fan was in the opposing student section, he absolutely should not be there. The blame is three-fold.

First and foremost, shame on the Georgia student who sold his/her ticket to an Ole Miss fan in the first place. That’s lame.

Secondly, shame on the Ole Miss fan for buying that ticket in that specific section instead of a ticket for anywhere else in the stadium. That’s also lame. I would never. And if I did, I would be aware of my surroundings to refrain from obnoxious behavior until the score is final.

Thirdly, shame on the Sugar Bowl and/or CFP ticketing system that allowed this to happen. Only students should be allowed in their schools’ specific student sections.

The viral female student is subject to criticism on social media even though she is on the correct side of this argument. An Ole Miss fan should not be in the Georgia student section.
