A high school football coach in Georgia was arrested on charges of assault and battery. Darius Robinson was already relieved of his duties at Greene County High School prior to Thanksgiving.
His alleged behavior triggered a law enforcement investigation.
Multiple high school football players came forward with accusations against their former coach. Robinson is currently facing two counts of aggravated assault and one count of simple battery.
The Greene County High School football team went 2-9.
Greene County High School is located in the small town of Greensboro, Georgia. It also serves the serves the communities of Scull Shoals, Siloam, Union Point, White Plains, and Woodville with a total enrollment of approximately 500 students in Grades 9-12.
Robinson was hired to lead the varsity football program in January. He previously served as an assistant at South Georgia powerhouse Valdosta under head coach Shelton Felton. This was his first opportunity as a head coach.
The Tigers won eight games in 2024 prior to Robinson’s arrival. They won only two games in 2025 with multiple losses of 35 points or more.
Despite the results, Robinson was excited about the program’s future with a roster of mostly underclassmen expected to return in 2026. A severe culture problem within the locker room likely contributed to the disappointing season.
Head coach Darius Robinson was fired and arrested.
According to the Lake Onconee News, Robinson did not return to school after Thanksgiving break. If we are to connect the dots, his absence likely stemmed from an ongoing investigation.
He was already relieved of his duties and placed on administrative leave prior to his arrest.
“The Greene County School System has been working in cooperation with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and is aware of today’s announcement regarding the arrest of Mr. Darius Robinson, a former football coach at Greene County High School. Upon receiving allegations involving Mr. Robinson, the district took immediate and appropriate action. Prior to the GBI arrest, Mr. Robinson had been relieved of his coaching duties and placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the district’s internal review and the law enforcement investigation.”
Robinson was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday for allegedly choking and hitting several of his players.
“The GBI has arrested and charged Darius Terrell Robinson, age 34 of Union Point, GA, with two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Simple Battery. On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at about 12:30 p.m., the Greensboro Police Department requested the GBI to assist with an investigation regarding Robinson hitting and choking several minors who played football for Robinson between September and November 2025.”
Greene County was expected to begin offseason workouts for the high school football team in January. It is currently unclear as to whether that schedule remains on track and who will lead the program in the interim. Darius Robinson will obviously not return to the school. Further details were not made available.
