The Georgia Tech baseball team will continue its season in the NCAA Tournament after booking a ticket to the field of 64. Players were less than thrilled with their landing spot.

The Yellow Jackets were lifeless during a celebratory watch party in Atlanta. They believe they were snubbed for a top seed.

Georgia Tech won the ACC after going 40-17 in the regular season, which included 19 conference wins. The league is one of the two most competitive groups in college baseball alongside the SEC.

The ACC got nine teams into the NCAA Tournament field. Three of those teams will host despite finishing behind the Yellow Jackets in the standings.

Georgia Tech went 1-1 in the ACC Baseball Tournament. It hoped that its regular season resume was good enough to land a Top 16 seed. It wasn’t in the eyes of the NCAA.

The Top 16 seeds get to host the opening round of postseason play. Their odds of playing at home in the Super Regionals are also increased. It provides an obvious advantage to reward teams on their success.

Georgia Tech boasted an RPI that ranked 21st in the nation. They picked up series wins over tournament teams in Louisville and Duke while outscoring host Clemson in a competitive three-game set. Still, they were on the outside looking in on Selection Monday.

The Yellow Jackets will travel to Oxford as a two-seed in the Ole Miss Regional. They will have to win on the road if they hope to reach the College World Series in Omaha.

Players entered the weekend hopeful. They left dejected. Scenes from the watch party have since gone viral.

Georgia Tech baseball players couldn’t celebrate after learning their NCAA Tournament fate. They felt robbed following what was the program’s best season since 2019.

There were a few claps from teammates after seeing their destination revealed. Most sat arms crossed in disbelief. Were they snubbed?

Georgia Tech didn’t get snubbed from the tournament—it’s the No. 2 seed in the Oxford Regional—but it’s listed here because it’s the first ACC regular-season champion to not host since 1999.

On top of its regular-season title, the Yellow Jackets crossed the 40-win threshold, earned 20 conference victories, advanced to the ACC tournament semifinals, had the No. 31 strength of schedule and collected a dozen quad-one wins. Instead of hosting, Georgia Tech now heads to face the No. 10 overall seed Ole Miss. That is a mighty tough draw.

The Yellow Jackets were not rewarded for winning the ACC, the first time the conference’s champ has been left off the one-line in nearly three decades. The postseason can now go one of two ways.

Georgia Tech can wallow in the snub while traveling to Mississippi, or it can prove doubters wrong by winning the Ole Miss regional. They’ll hope for the latter as they pursue a national championship.
