NFL fans in the United States were astonished to see the size of the beer being poured in Germany on Sunday. Meanwhile, the fans in Munich were more concerned with how the large beers were consumed.
They ruthlessly booed a man wearing a Patrick Mahomes jersey for his weak attempt at a chug!
Unfortunately, Germany was not treated to a high-stakes matchup between two organizations with legitimate playoff hopes. The 2-7 Carolina Panthers played the 2-7 New York Giants at Allianz Arena, home to FC Bayern Munich and the national soccer team. Gross.
Fortunately, the two basement-dwelling teams are equally as bad so the game went to overtime! Plus, the sold-out crowd of 75,000 did not really care about either team or the result. They were just there to enjoy some American football, sing along to ‘Country Roads’ and drink some beers with their friends.
“Country Roads” is a thing here. Yeah I don’t know. But I dig it. pic.twitter.com/0sPwXzLAo5

Here in the U.S., a stadium beer at an NFL Game costs anywhere between $6.25 and $14.67 — sometimes more. All you get in return, typically, is a 16-ounce tallboy.
The price of beer at Allianz Arena hovers around $10 USD for a half liter. It’s about $20 for a full pitcher.
Not only are they bigger, they are cheaper.

The annual volume of beer consumed in Germany in 2023 amounted to 92 liters per capita, compared to 72 in the United States. They don’t mess around! And if we’re being honest, the beers overseas probably taste better than a Bud Light.
Even though the beers are cheaper, bigger and better, it is still encouraged to chug— especially when you end up on the jumbotron. However, you must finish your drink if you don’t want to be ridiculed.
A Chiefs fan in attendance on Sunday learned that lesson the hard way. He was mercilessly booed after a poor chugging performance on the big screen. There were still a few sips left in his cup!

It is unclear as to whether the fan was a local, or if he was an expatriate or a tourist. Regardless of who he might be, Germany let him know that he must adhere to its chugging standards!
