Former Giant Alex Bachman Says Joe Judge Once Called A Play So Stupid That The WR Thought He Was Concussed

The state of professional football in New York City has been rough for the last decade or so, to say the least.

The New York Jets currently have the longest postseason drought in American professional sports — 13 years and counting — while the New York Giants have had five head coaches in the nine years since Tom Coughlin retired.

Both franchises have endured uniquely dark moments during those times, as well: just last season, the Jets lost QB Aaron Rodgers after just four snaps, while the Giants QB play was so poor they eventually idolized a game named Tommy DeVito.

One particular brutal memory for Giants fans comes courtesy of the two seasons they spent under failed head coach Joe Judge, who infamously called a quarterback sneak on a 3rd & 9 from the Giants 4-yard line in a 3-0 game that hadn’t even reached halftime yet.

The play call was so outrageous, in fact, that former G-Men wide receiver Alex Bachman, who is now with the Las Vegas Raiders, thought he had a concussion in the moment it happened.

“I thought I was concussed when I heard this play call in the huddle… I came off on the sideline looking around. I thought for sure I was tripping,” Bachman tweeted after one of those NFL aggregation accounts reposted the video.

During his two seasons as Giants head coach in 2020 and 2021, Judge coached 33 games and posted a record of 10-23. Judge, who was previously the New England Patriots special teams coordinator, returned to the Patriots after he was fired by the Giants, and now serves as a senior analyst at the University of Mississippi.

As for Bachman, he was cut by the Giants in the summer of 2022 and has since played on the practice squads of the Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders, with whom he signed a contract in May.
