The San Francisco Giants turned a triple play against the Chicago Cubs during their most recent Spring Training matchup in Arizona. Not everyone in attendance witnessed the rare feat in person.

Emergency alarms sounded just before the play occurred forcing many to exit their seats. Mass confusion took hold of the baseball venue.

The alarms were sounded in the first inning of play during the Sunday afternoon contest. Umpires kept play moving as the sirens went off.

That refusal to stop play confused fans, who after a brief pause, began making their ways to the exits. The cause for the warning is still unknown.

Things would only get more confusing in the moments to follow.

The Giants turned a triple play.

As attendees left their seats, San Franciso pitcher Robbie Ray continued to battle Chicago batters. He walked both Matt Shaw and Alex Bregman to start the first frame.

Three-hole hitter Seiya Suzuki then hit into one of the more bizarre triple plays you’ll see.

Suzuki singled to shallow right field. Chicago baserunners got signals crossed on the basepaths, leaving two players stranded at third base.

Suzuki was thrown out at second trying to swipe an extra bag. Shaw and Bregman were later tagged out at third.

No one quite knew what was happening during the play. After seeing his teammates tagged, Shaw left his post despite not being initially ruled out. His befuddlement turned a double play into a triple play for the Giants.

Confusion was the cause of the triple play, which no one got to witness due to their own confusion sparked by the fire alarms. The chaos was a fitting end to a truly bizarre Spring Training scene.
