Gilbert Arenas finds himself in the midst of a legal whirlwind following a serious gambling accusation. He was arrested for allegedly running a high-stakes poker operation in Southern California.

The NBA star faces serious jail time if convicted. It hasn’t stopped him from returning to social media to make light of the situation.

Hours after his arrest, he posted a video on social media showing him dancing in celebration of being released on a $50,000 bond. It was one of several online posts shared in the moments following his apprehension.

Gilbert Arenas faces significant jail time.

He’s been charged on three different counts. Those include conspiracy to operate an illegal gambling business, operating an illegal gambling business, and making false statements to federal investigators.

Each carries a maximum sentence of five years.

Arenas hasn’t taken the arrest seriously, at least not according to his social media activity. Then again, he has no plans of going to jail.

Ain’t nothing wrong with snitching, man,” he’s been heard saying. “It ain’t nothing wrong with just telling, man.”

Stephen A. Smith had advice for the former NBA star.

“Bro, I need you not to play around,” the sports talk host started. “My brother, I do not want to see you in jail at all. It’s not a good look. It’s nothing to laugh about. It’s nothing to joke about when the feds come raiding your home.

“I don’t want to see that. I can assure you that anybody who wants to do business with you, I’m one of those people, ESPN, Underdog, a whole bunch of sponsors and advertisers, we don’t want to see that…

“It’s not a joking matter to other people, and the reality is that, my brother, it shouldn’t be a joking matter to you.”

Stephen A. noted Gilbert Arenas’ initial response to the situation. He begged the hooper to take things more seriously.

Arenas spurned that advice in order to further attack a rival.

Gilbert Arenas retaliated against Kwame Brown.

The two former teammates have a longstanding beef that dates back to their playing careers. Arenas has previously spoken on Brown’s lack of commitment as a No. 1 NBA Draft pick. He’s also accused him of having a drug and alcohol problem.

Brown, meanwhile, credits Arenas with ruining his career. He celebrated the arrest when the news broke. “It’s like my birthday,” he said in a video posted to social media.

It didn’t take Arenas long to respond to Brown’s jab.

The latest post showed that Gilbert Arenas has not taken Stephen A.’s warning to heart. He is not concerned with the potential consequences in his legal battle.

Smith hopes it doesn’t come back to bite.
